A Win for Two Justice Centre Clients!
We are pleased to announce the successful appeal of two of our refugee clients from the Horn of Africa. After 7 years of uncertainty, they have both been granted protection in Hong Kong.
Civil militia groups, such as al-Shabab continue to terrorise villages across the Horn of Africa . Attacks by militia groups have killed around 4,000 people across the past decade . Peacekeeping missions executed by the African Union and the United Nations continue to operate in the region after decades of conflict.
This result was made possible by the collaboration between Justice Centre and a Barrister-at-law from Gilt Chambers via the Duty Lawyer Service to pull together a case to overturn the HKSAR Immigration Department’s initial decision to refuse the clients’ claims.
We are delighted for our clients, who can now celebrate with their young family, despite these difficult times.
