Rehab & Support
Our social welfare team provides support services for our clients as well as training, technical assistance, and capacity-building for the wider civil society sector.
The way we work with our clients is holistic – we understand that those who do not have shelter for their family, or enough food to survive cannot focus on legal proceedings. Many of those who walk through our door have suffered extreme trauma and require counselling to enable them to speak about their experiences. This is why our legal team works alongside our social welfare team, ensuring that those who seek protection in Hong Kong can first meet their basic needs before working with us to secure their longer-term safety and access to justice.
Our social welfare services are aimed at helping people access the services they are entitled to, including education, healthcare, and housing. Our clients often experience logistical hurdles and challenges to accessing the services they have the right to use, and our team helps them navigate the system. Where it is not possible to access a service that they need, Justice Centre works in partnership with private organisations to fill those gaps, for example through the use of private speech therapy or mental health assistance.
